Greece Postage due stamps – Part paid Mail from Romania to Greece 1869: Mourning envelope from
Ismail to Syros, Greece, franked on despatch by 1869 15 b. red
overlapping 25 b. blue & yellow (Mi 23+24) tied by ISMAIL
datestamp (May 24) in blue with straight line JSMAIL handstamp and
framed PD in same ink alongside. Prepaid as far as Constantinople
at 40 bani rate, the cover was taxed (for the Greek internal rate
only) on arrival with three margined 1862/67 20 l. blue tied by
Syros cds (May 20, julian). Reverse with Austrian P. O.
‘Constantinopel’ transit cds (May 31) and front showing
correct P.P. applied by Austrian P.O. Reverse with Syros cds.
